Non slip decking for balconies and residential areas
Specifying decking for residential balconies brings its own set of challenges. For the resident an aesthetically pleasing outdoor space is the priority. For the specifier, issues such as safety, cleaning, maintenance and usability are the focus. Marley Eternit anti-slip decking has been successfully specified on many projects such as the Library Street development. Marley Eternit decking was chosen for the developments walkways and exposed link bridges, due to its high levels of slip resistance which was ideal for the heavy footfall traffic areas. Apartment balconies and individual walkways were also decked with slip resistance. All boards used met BS7976 with full FSC and PEFC chain of custody. Antislip Plus® boards can be supplied smooth as well as grooved making it particularly suitable for urban and residential areas.
Other projects include Kidbrooke Village and Rathbone Market (Canning Town), the Olympic Village in London and Wonham Mill in Surrey. Boards can be precision end trimmed to avoid any unnecessary cutting on site and save time. C24 grading can be offered if required to optimise joist spans are use a thinner board to maintain floor levels.
Natural timber has the lowest embodied energy of any mainstream building material and is a managed material – therefore as a decking solution it delivers a more sustainable product, enhancing the environmental credentials of the project.
