EQUITONE [textura] Gives New Community Centre A Distinct Identity
EQUITONE [textura] has provided a strong, dynamic image and clear sense of identity at the new £3.75m BREEAM ‘Very Good’ community centre.
Colours Onyx and Natural Titanium were specified for all four facades of Royston Wardieburn Community Education Centre in North Edinburgh.
The panels were arranged in a juxtaposed angular pattern to enhance the modern aesthetic of the building with intermittent bands of Onyx and Natural Titanium to accentuate the facade design.
Don McKenzie, for The City of Edinburgh Council, said: “We specified EQUITONE [textura] to give the building a dynamic and engaging facade, creating a strong focal point for the community. The EQUITONE facade adds a striking, low maintenance, high quality finish to the centre that helps establish this facility as a keynote building in the locality".
The EQUITONE panels were secret fixed to a steel framing system (SFS) using structural adhesive to create a sheer, smooth facade unobstructed by fixings.
City of Edinburgh Council Education Leader Marilyn Maclaren, said: “It’s a fantastic centre, it’s beautifully designed, and there are a lot of excellent, very flexible facilities, there’s something here for all ages.”
Residents of Royston and Wardieburn are now making the most of their new centre, which incorporates a sports hall, computer suite, cafe, arts and crafts room, games room, training room, shower facilities and five meeting rooms.
