Benefits of fibre cement

There are few materials that are as versatile and durable as fibre cement. It is these characteristics that have led to its widespread use for roofing, cladding and internal walling applications. Here Marley Eternit looks at the use of fibre cement Profile 6 sheeting to create a striking effect on a new garden centre in Erskine.
Fibre cement offers both contemporary and flexible design options and is used by many contractors to create stunning roofs and facades.
The simple combination of wood cellulose, synthetic fibres, water and cement make it one of the most ecological and universal building products on the market, available in small format slates through to large decorative cladding panels and profiled sheeting.
It was the aesthetics and cost effectiveness that led architects Archial Group to specify Marley Eternit’s fibre cement Profile 6 sheeting both as a roofing and cladding material for a new garden centre in Erskine.
Visually, the black coloured sheets matched the appearance of nearby buildings in this part of South West Scotland and as the only UK manufactured fibre cement profile sheeting, Profile 6 also achieves an A+ rating in the BRE Green Guide to Specification.
