As part of the £22million redevelopment in Horsham, West Sussex a multi-use development comprising a supermarket, apartments, multi-story car park and commercial/retail units has been successfully completed.
Marley Eternit's anti slip timber decking was specified for the prestigious modern development to provide the best possible performance for each of the different areas. JB Antislip Plus ® with resin-bonded aggregate strips was used for exceptional levels of slip resistance on the exposed main footpath that leads to three pedestrian bridges linking the development’s east and west buildings. Each of the 65 ‘key worker’ apartments has French doors leading onto a small decked balcony. Access to the front of the apartments is by a linked elevated footpath which is also decked.
Marley Eternit recommends the use of JB Antislip Plus® inserts for all decks where there is public access, or a high level of pedestrian traffic to provide users with a safe, slip resistant surface in all weathers.
Another product from Marley Eternit, JB CitiDeck®, developed for a high profile sporting event is frequently specified for outdoor areas in urban areas where inclusivity is key to the design or food is served. Its smooth surface prevents food, dirt or litter becoming trapped, making it much easier to clean for maintenance teams. In addition, the smooth deck boards also provide improved walking comfort for users with high heeled shoes, making the product particularly suitable for use in urban and residential areas.
Natural decking has the lowest embodied energy of any mainstream building material and is a managed material to deliver a more sustainable product, enhancing the environmental credentials of the project, all deck boards have full FSC or PEFC chain of custody. JB CitiDeck and JB Antislip plus have been independently tested by the Health & Safety Laboratory in accordance with BS 7976, parts 1-3, 2002) and significantly exceed the minimum requirements.
