The Technical Development Centre (TDC) provides the research and development for the concrete roof tile manufacturing factories of the Etex Group (of which Marley Eternit is part) in the UK, Germany and Poland.

With a mixture of both new developments and routine testing, our work is exciting and challenging, and includes:

  • New product development
  • Accessories and fitting design development
  • Testing
  • Raw material approval
  • Technical support to factory production.

About our team

The team come from a wide range of disciplines, with Production and Manufacturing Engineers, Product Designers, Polymer Specialists, a Paint/Polymer Technologist, Concrete and Paint Technicians and a Product Testing Technician.

Our team members possess a range of qualifications, both academic and vocational, to degree and Masters levels in engineering, design, materials and polymer technologies.

Multi Skilled Engineer

Job Profile

The role of Multi-Skilled Shift Technician is a shift based role within our Maintenance department at Keele.Reporting to the Engineering Manager, the Maintenance Shift Technician has responsibility for maintaining site equipment and machinery. Main duties will be to provide fault diagnosis electrically and mechanically as well as routine maintenance.

Key Responsibilities

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Supporting the maintaining of equipment, machinery and associated services in a safe and good working


Execute Planned Preventative Maintenance and provide input into improving the system

Provide mechanical/electrical support in the event of breakdowns

Work and liaise with a range of internal departments and external suppliers

Confirm work done into Maintenance Management System (SAP) complete with technical feedback

Where necessary provide input into feasibility studies, Capex and continuous improvement projects

Adhere to stated policies and procedures relating to health and safety, environment and quality management systems

Prioritise workload

Liaise and attend meetings with other company functions necessary to perform duties and aid business


Liaise with stores to identify relevant and correct stock items.

Work within 5s methodology to maintain workplace to a high standard

To carry out other tasks as deemed necessary, that are within the job holders capability

The successful applicant will have several years experience of maintenance within a continuous process control industry, and must have completed a relevant recognised apprenticeship and hold relevant electrical and mechanical qualification

Applicants should be enthusiastic and highly self motivated with a flexible approach to their work.This will be combined with the ability to work efficiently on your own initiative, and work as part of a team. You will have a solid understanding of engineering principles and a desire to progress within the manufacturing sector. Must possess a good level of computer literacy, and have excellent communication skills.

IT Service Desk Administrator

Closing Date: 20.06.2017


To accurately Log and maintain all incoming helpdesk calls from our user-base across the supported companies which comprise the I.T. Shared Services function. All calls must be logged in the ‘ Landesk ‘ Call logging system. Once a call is logged, it must then be managed during its lifecycle to a satisfactory conclusion. During this time it is expected that the person will communicate with both end-users and technical analysts to ensure the call is treated with the correct priority.


To Log and maintain all incoming calls (All Medias) to the department.

Create and Maintain Crystal Reports in Landesk.Produce Daily/Weekly/Monthly Helpdesk and Phone

Statistics.Participate in Weekly Review of all Landesk Tickets with Helpdesk Manager.

Maintain the IT espresso portal.Management of the I.T. SMS Portal.


To monitor all current means of users reporting faults to the department, including the phone system, shared email and Self Service portals. To transfer in full with all relevant attachments and information from the incoming media to the Landesk call logging system.

Communicate with users to ensure all the information that the 2nd and 3rd line analysts may need to resolve the user’s problem has been gained and entered in the calls before assignment occurs.Communicate through the whole lifecycle of the call with end-user, analyst and 3rd party where applicable to ensure the call is treated with the correct priority and the end-user is always kept up-to-date with the progress of their call.

Create Crystal Reports to interrogate the Landesk Database and publish as required.Produce Daily/Weekly/Monthly Landesk Reports to assist in the daily management and to be available for weekly review and to publish for management.

Schedule and Participate in a Weekly review of all helpdesk calls past and across the 5 supported companies which comprise the I.T. Shared Services function.Publish Monthly Landesk reports to the espresso intranet.

Manage the I.T. espresso portal ensuring both content and issue related posts are up-to-date for the end-users.Maintain the I.T.SMS Portal ensuring all distribution lists are up-to-date and engage the system when issues occur and dictate an SMS notification to go the user-base.

Skills and Experience

Proven Verbal and Written Communication.Good Telephone Manner.

Ability to transfer verbal communication from user into a written report for the technical analysts.

Crystal Reports generation.
