About the Quality & Environment Department

Based at our manufacturing sites at Burton upon Trent, Beenham, Glasgow, Keele and Meldreth, our team includes a Q&E Manager, Company Advisor, Concrete Manager, Q&E Officers and QA Technicians.

Our aim is to maintain a clear understanding of our customers’ needs and to exceed them. We achieve this by continually innovating ways of manufacturing our products and providing an even better service by regularly analysing our activities. We are also responsible for achieving conformance to the company’s declared specifications and compliance to applicable legislation.

We work to achieve improvement through regular communication with other departments, management support and teamwork. It is an approach that has reaped real results: we have identified areas of improvement for products, services, and the working environment.

Production Operative

Job Profile

We are currently recruiting for a Production Operative at our site in Burton. Working as part of the production team, the operative will operate the production machinery and will also be responsible for producing hand made and machine made accessories to complement the full range of main roof products.

Key Responsibilities

Ensuring optimum efficiency of equipment and productivity to meet and sustain required production volumes within agreed budget levels.

Ensuring the companies health & safety standards are compiled with and developed, including briefings, safety audits, MOB’s toolbox talks etc.

Ensuring the companies quality standards are driven forward.

Achieve safe working in a high volume, high speed manufacturing environment.

Machine operation and fault diagnosis.

Contribute to the successful implementation of Kaizan (continuous improvements) projects maximising improvement opportunities.

Support a successful 6s programme within all areas of responsibility.

Liaise with the maintenance department to optimise plant performance.

Posses the ability of working in other departments as and when required.

To carry out other tasks as deemed necessary, that are within the job holders capability.

Main Activities

Operating machinery.Checking the operation of equipment.

Checking safety equipment and procedures.

Developing a system that will deliver continuous improvement in all areas.Initially special attention will be

paid to cleanliness and safety.Safe working in a high volume, high speed manufacturing environment.

Ensuring products comply with specified quality standards.Machine operation and fault diagnosis.

Liaison with maintenance staff to optimize plant performance.

The ideal candidate should be able to work on their own initiative and with minimum supervision.They must also be able to manufacture products to specific quality and quantity standards.Flexible working is a key attribute, to meet challenging production targets.The ability to work within a ream is essential, along with an enthusiastic attitude.

Engineering Manager

We are the only UK manufacturer offering all elements of a roofing system from clay and concrete tiles, fibre cement slates, shingles and profiled sheeting to roofing accessories and battens including the BS 5534 compliant JB Red batten.

Our innovative and market-leading products are all supported by a wide range of easily accessible technical services and expert support to meet the needs of our customers from across the construction industry.

We are now looking to recruit for an Engineering Manager to join our Keele site to lead and influence all direct reports and departments, ensuring all Health and Safety regulations are adhered to.

Liaising with various Insurance Inspectors and initiating remedial action when necessary including the inspection of lifting equipment, pressure vessels, LEV Systems and presses and the safe keeping of those records, you will manage all Capital Expenditure Projects, working closely with the Central Engineering department including planning strategic developments, looking up to 3 years ahead.

You will also be responsible for waste reduction, customer experience improvement and financial improvement through cost reduction or value creation and for ensuring that all engineering based budgets are delivered on target.

Educated to degree level in a relevant engineering discipline (or equivalent NVQ Level 6 qualification), you must have demonstrable experience of leading an engineering function with a proven track record in strategic engineering, leadership, delivering effective engineering strategies, policies, processes and systems. Able to add value, reduce costs and make business improvements, you should hold proven project management and supplier experience and have a background of operating and influencing at a strategic level, and managing Capital Expenditure to budget or better.
