About our Business Systems Support department

Roles based in Bristol and at Wrotham in Kent

In this fast-paced department, we enable colleagues across Marley Eternit to access systems and hardware to help them perform their roles. We also:

  • Install, set up and support hardware and software.
  • Provide first and second line end user support to all Etex Group companies in the UK and Ireland, dealing with around 9000 calls per year
  • Provide virtual team support to Manasco – the Etex Group’s ICT company based in Belgium.
  • Keep abreast of new technologies such as mobile devices, cloud-based software solutions and telephony.

About our team

We have a team of eight, all with different skills. We support each other and there is mentoring from senior staff. Skill sets we look for at various levels from beginner to advanced include: Windows operating systems, Citrix, PC networks, helpdesk procedures and support, local and wide area networks, messaging solutions (Exchange/Notes), Windows server infrastructure, back office systems, good verbal and written communication skills, telephony and project management.

Production Operative

Main Purpose of the Role

“To safely operate production machinery as part of a team ensuring that daily production and quality targets are met.”

Key Responsibilities

Safety and environment – Act responsibly and safely in the workplace at all times to ensure a safe working environment.Follow all site rules.Following safe working practices and procedures including timely reporting of accidents and emergencies.

Quality –Ensure production complies with product specification and appearance acceptable to customer.Report any production issues immediately to minimize quality problems

Communication – Be pro-active, work with other members of the team as required.Record information as and when required, feeding back information and issues to the senior operator and shift manager.

Operational Performance – Participate in Lean improvements and techniques on the line.Operate all sections of plant to ensure a fully flexible workforce.

Workplace Organisation - Be responsible for all designated housekeeping and developing and maintaining standards for the line.

Behavioural Profile

Is capable of being part of a mixed skill team in a high pressure, safety drive, production environment.Is capable of working safely on own initiative.Has attention to detail.Is effective at communicating and works well within a team.Is flexible in terms of working requirements.Can follow rules, but is also capable of showing some initiative.

A flexible approach to working requirements is expected to ensure adequate cover to meet production demands, this may require undertaking tasks that are out of your production area.At times the job holder may need to travel away from site for training or other requirements.A flexible approach to overtime working will be required

Since the Production Operative will work closely with the production machinery, it is expected that the job holder will be able to understand the fundamental workings of the plant.However, an aptitude for working with automatic production systems and man machine interfaces is essential.In addition a desire to work as part of a team to achieve a common goal must be demonstrated.

Engineering Manager

Job Profile
We are now looking to recruit an Engineering Manager to join our Keele site to lead and influence our maintenance department, ensuring all Health & Safety regulations are adhered to and agreed KPI’s are achieved or exceeded.Outline responsibilities of the role include:-

Key Responsibilities include:
Safety & Environment
To take a leading role in the Works to ensure that Safety is always treated as the number one priority and that the department operates in such a way as to minimize environmental impact.

Engineering
Create and maintain a skills matrix to enable job rotation and hence flexibility within the work force
Liaison with various Insurance Inspectors and initiation of remedial action where necessary including inspection of lifting equipment, pressure vessels. LEV Systems and presses and the safe keeping of those records
Management of all Capital Expenditure Projects, working closely with the Central Engineering department, including planning strategic developments looking up to 3 years ahead.
To ensure cost effective management of spare parts for all major items of plant

Leadership
Demonstrate through action, strong leadership principles.
Promote and foster team working.
Operate with integrity at all times by doing the right thing.
Set SMART objectives for your team and coach/mentor them to achieve

Communication
Carry out and maintain the effective communication requirements of the business utilising all media formats.
Be pro-active, promote and encourage participative communication across all functional areas..
Accountable for maintenance and presentation of the Engineering balanced scorecard

Operational Performance
Waste reduction
Machine availability improvement
Customer Experience improvement
Financial improvement through cost reduction or value creation

Workplace Organisation
Ensure that all direct and indirect reports are engaged in the process
Ensure that cost effective resources are provided to all teams
Monitoring and challenging improvement plans to ensure progress is maintained.
Standardisation of owned areas at world class levels.

Cost Control
Ensure that all engineering based budgets are delivered on target.

Qualifications, Experience, Skills and Knowledge
Educated to degree level in a relevant engineering discipline or equivalent NVQ Level 6 qualification
Demonstrable experience of leading an engineering function with a proven track record in strategic engineering, leadership, delivering effective engineering strategies, policies, processes and systems.
Ideally will hold a Health and Safety qualification
Ability to add value, reduce costs and make business improvements
Proven project management and supplier experience
Experience of operating and influencing a strategic level, and managing Capital Expenditure to budget or better
Proven experience of managing plant reliability
