“I have had support in the workplace from an inspirational team leader.”
Rikki Sadler, Apprentice
I have been on the apprenticeship scheme for just over three and a half years.
My role consists of maintaining plant and equipment to a high standard whilst carrying out preventative, reactive and planned maintenance on a wide range of electrical infrastructures. You must be able to maintain a high standard of discipline in a breakdown situation whilst under pressure; maintaining a safe working environment for myself and other employees.
My role plays a big part in supporting my team/lines by keeping the lines running at a high efficiency and output level, to help the business achieve its goals. The most enjoyable part of my job role is the satisfaction of knowing that when repairing a machine in a breakdown situation, it all helps towards the company achieving its set goals.
Also, when I am installing/commissioning new pieces of electrical equipment, it gives me the incentive to constantly develop my personal skills and think of ways to improve plant and machinery.
Throughout my apprenticeship Marley Eternit has supported my development by allowing me to attend college, and I have had support in the workplace from an inspirational team leader who has devoted his time, enthusiasm and technical ability to my development and skills to enable me to gain the high level of skill needed.
Ultimately I want to progress within Marley Eternit to a management level in engineering, where I could develop people like myself to a very high standard in the future.
