“Creating and adjusting designs to fit with a specification is challenging but very enjoyable.”
Jordan Carmichael, Design Engineer Trainee
I have a Masters degree in Product Design and Development Engineering from Queens University Belfast. So far I have enjoyed working on product development in R&D as it was what I enjoyed most while still at University.
I am also undergoing training in other departments to better understand how the rest of the company works in terms of new product creation and existing product development. Before I complete my training, I will also spend time at Bracknell Roofing to get experience working with our products at the installation stage.
I get excited at the prospects of creating new products and working alongside roofers to get a better understanding of the difficulties they encounter and how they can be alleviated.
I believe I will be able to bring different perspectives to product design and development and in the long run I hope this will lead to more efficient manufacturing and increased sales of products. In the future, I hope to head up the development of key products myself.
I have been well supported, and those around me and in charge of my training have always made sure that I wasn’t struggling with the work or having difficulties understanding what I was meant to be doing. The people here are very welcoming and easy to get along with. When you work here you get to know how each office affects the others and how they rely on one another to work efficiently.
