BS 8612: Dry-fixed Ridge, Hip and Gable Systems for Roofs – Product Specifications
Marley Eternit is widely recognised as one of the early pioneers of the dry fix industry, developing some of the first high-performance purpose-made systems.
Whilst many purpose-made systems are still popular today as part of single-source system specifications, there has been an industry-wide move towards complete kit solutions, popular with merchant distributors because of their compatibility with a range of tile and slate types. Marley Eternit offers both of these options with our purpose-made and Universal kit ranges.
Exponential growth in the dry fix market - fuelled by recent changes to industry standards and guidelines - has resulted in a huge array of options for specifiers and installers for dry fix products. Consequently, there are now sufficient numbers of competing systems (of varying performance and quality), as to warrant the proposed introduction of a new British Standard, which aims to outline minimum performance requirements and introduce a recognised standard for the dry fix industry.
The proposed new standard, which has been called BS 8612: Dry-fixed Ridge, Hip and Gable Systems for Roofs – Product specifications is currently out for public comment and can be viewed on the BSI website.
