Duo Edgemere Interlocking Slate

Duo Edgemere interlocking slate tile

If you like Edgemere, but would like the appearance of a smaller format slate then Duo Edgemere could offer you the perfect solution. The addition of a machine made groove down the centre surface of the tile, combined with laying in a quarter broken bond, produces something that is unique and visually stunning. Laying smaller format slates can be very expensive and time consuming, but with Duo Edgemere you get the same visual impact with the ease of installation provided by standard interlocking tiles.

Similar to Edgemere, you get an attractive appearance at a surprisingly atractive price. With only 9.7 tiles per square metre, Edgemere is a single lap solution, which is quicker and easier to install than natural slate and is also compatible with our full range of ventilation and dry fix systems. With the ability to perform at pitches as low as 17.5°, Edgemere gives you the versatility to be used on a wide range of roof types.

An A+ rating in the BRE Green Guide* achieving the lowest environmental impact is complemented by material, weight and transport savings that all lead to lower embodied carbon. Giving you the leading edge in roof design.

Project: Stewart Milne Homes - 'Silver Birches'
Product: Duo Edgemere
Sector: Private Housing
Location: Alford, Aberdeenshire
Roofing Contractor: MCS Inverurie

Marley Eternit’s market-leading Duo Edgemere interlocking slate has been specified for a mixture of semi-detached, terraced and detached properties at a major new housing development in Alford, Aberdeenshire.

The ‘Silver Birches’ development by Stewart Milne Homes, one of the largest housebuilders in the North of Scotland, comprises 224 properties and includes a range of luxury homes styled by leading interior designer, Marren Interiors.

With local planners requesting that a thinner style of slate tile be specified on the project so that the aesthetic appeal of the new homes would blend seamlessly with the surrounding urban landscape, architects at Stewart Milne worked with Marley Eternit’s team to find the most appropriate roofing solution.

Duo Edgemere slates in Smooth Grey were chosen as they met the requirements of the planners whilst supporting the design vision that Stewart Milne had set for the overall scheme.
