Marley Eternit launches new CPD courses

Marley Eternit, leading provider of roofing and cladding solutions, is helping to make life easier for architects and construction professionals by launching three new roofing and cladding CPD training courses.

The new courses, covering roofing regulations, the roof and the environment and fibre cement profile sheeting have all received RIBA accreditation.

The first course, entitled ‘Playing by the regulations for roofing’, gives a new perspective on this topic with tips on how to avoid the pitfalls of regulations such as Building Regulations, British Standards, BREEAM and the Code for Sustainable Homes.

The second course, ‘The roof and our environment’, focuses on the roof as a sustainable platform and dispels myths about the environmental impact of certain materials whilst covering the guidelines of BREEAM and the Code for Sustainable Homes.

The third course, ‘Specifying fibre cement profiled sheeting’, covers design considerations, installation systems and performance properties of fibre cement profiled sheeting while informing about planning and design issues within the building envelope.

Sarah Hanlon, marketing manager at Marley Eternit, said:  “These are all complex areas and two of the topics covered by the new courses, the environment and regulations, are rapidly evolving and becoming increasingly important.  Therefore it’s crucial that architects and construction professionals have got the most up-to-date information as navigating through all the different pieces of legislation can be a minefield.  We are able to use our knowledge not just to explain what the legislation is but importantly how it impacts on roofing specification.

“RIBA has rated our environment course as excellent.  We’re delighted that we got this rating because it recognises that the content we’ve chosen for the course is the right material for architects and construction professionals to be concentrating on in this already challenging subject area.

“These new courses are a great addition to our portfolio of RIBA CPD training courses which already covers rainscreen cladding.  We want to make it easy for architects and construction professionals to comply with the latest regulations and to keep up with cutting-edge industry knowledge while earning CPD points.  Each course lasts now more than an hour so it’s something that can be easily fitted into the working day, or even a lunch hour, with minimal disruption.”
