Marley Eternit's Solid Soffit Performance

Already familiar with Marley Eternit decorative cladding panels and building boards, Mark Corrigan, project manager for the Saint George’s Island development in Manchester, was confident they would perform.

The white panels of low-maintenance 9mm fibre cement Multiclad, form the soffits to the balconies of the 400+ stunning one- and two-bedroom luxury apartments arranged around five steel-framed high-rise buildings.

Set within almost two acres of landscaped gardens on the banks of the historic Bridgewater canal and located within the Castlefield Conservation Area, Saint George’s Island was formerly a bus depot and has taken three years to transform into Manchester’s only residential island.

Jim Sloan, of architects John McAsian & Partners, said: “Dandara chose the Marley Eternit cladding as it is a cost effective way of cladding the soffits, with the white colour providing a simple, clean finish.”

Dandara’s Mark Corrigan added: “As it is a semi-external environment, we needed pre-finished boards that would stand up to the elements and the Marley Eternit boards are doing just that.”
