Carbon Reduction

At Marley Eternit we are constantly striving to reduce energy usage within our organisation and throughout our manufacturing processes. To help us successfully reduce our Carbon Footprint we are actively working with the Carbon Trust to develop a Carbon Strategy.

What is a carbon footprint?
Carbon footprint is a measure of the amount of carbon dioxide or CO² emitted through the combustion of fossil fuels; in the case of our organisation, as part of our everyday operations and products.

A carbon footprint is often expressed as tonnes of carbon dioxide or tonnes of carbon emitted, usually on a yearly basis.

Who are the Carbon Trust
The Carbon Trust is a government backed body who can assist companies in their efforts to reduce their carbon emissions. They are able to provide expertise in many areas of energy management. The Carbon Trust through our consultants are helping Marley Eternit develop its carbon strategy by conducting energy surveys/recommendations, giving consideration to the use of renewables and by establishing Energy Champions at each site, who can then through various dedicated training packages instil an energy culture throughout Marley Eternit.

We are working with the Carbon Trust to develop a Carbon Policy. The use of energy is vital in the manufacture of our products and represents our most significant source of carbon emissions. We will reduce these by first eliminating energy waste, then investing in equipment and processes to drive down further our specific carbon emissions and using renewable energy, when appropriate.
